Marshfield & Brant Rock

Experience quintessential South Shore seaside living. Walkable beaches, local seafood, and a laid-back coastal vibe.

The South Shore Lifestyle

Marshfield — and especially Brant Rock — is the heart of the South Shore lifestyle: a little more rugged and local than the mid-Cape, with deep surf, music, and working-harbor roots. Staying at our Brant Rock Coastal Retreat puts you steps from the seawall, the sand, and some of the best independent restaurants and venues in the region.

Sun & Sand

Brant Rock Beach

Walkable from our Coastal Retreat, this classic seawall-lined beach is where the community gathers. At high tide, waves crash right against the wall; at low tide, wide stretches of sand and tide pools appear.

Insider tradition: walk "The Wall" at sunrise with a coffee in hand. For tide-pooling, head to the southern end near the esplanade to hunt for starfish and sea glass tucked into the rocks.

Rexhame Beach

Where the South River meets the Atlantic, Rexhame is a dramatic mix of ocean waves, rolling dunes, and river views.

For something special, follow the dune trail that runs between the river and the ocean. It is one of the rare South Shore spots where, if you time it right, you can watch the sun set over the water on the river side.

Green Harbor Beach

A vibrant and bustling summer spot right down the road, known for its soft sand, harbor views, and family-friendly atmosphere.

Coastal Dining

Haddad's Ocean Café

A Marshfield institution and the gold standard for a sit-down seafood dinner, with harbor views and a true local feel.

Ask for a table upstairs in the "crow's nest" for the best view. The fried clams are famous, but the baked stuffed lobster is the dish locals rave about.

Venus II Restaurant

Located right by the seawall, offering everything from fresh seafood to great pizza, plus a lively bar scene and sports on TV — an easy, walkable option from the house.

Green Harbor Lobster Pound

A no-frills shack with some of the best lobster rolls and shellfish on the South Shore.

There is almost always a line. Call your order in ahead of time, then carry it to the Green Harbor bridge and eat while watching the lobster boats come in.

The Jetty

The go-to for elevated pub food, live music, and nightlife right in Brant Rock, with a great patio and year-round events.

Sunday brunch is a local favorite thanks to the build-your-own Bloody Mary bar and laid-back acoustic sets — the perfect way to wrap up a vacation weekend.

Stellwagen Beer Company

Marshfield's answer to Tree House: a destination craft brewery just a short drive inland from Brant Rock.

Dog- and kid-friendly, with a rotating roster of food trucks. Try their "Invisible Ink" IPA, a local favorite that frequently sells out.

Local Culture & Outdoors

Levitate Surf Shop

This isn't just a surf shop — it is the cultural engine of Marshfield, with its own clothing brand, surf school, and deep community roots.

Check out the Levitate Backyard & Rexicana Surf Cantina just behind the shop: a sprawling outdoor space with a taco cantina, live music, and colorful murals. It is the coolest spot in town for a post-beach beer or family-friendly night out.

Daniel Webster Wildlife Sanctuary

A Mass Audubon sanctuary of sweeping grasslands, marsh, and wildlife-rich wetlands just a short drive from the coast.

Seek out the aptly named "Secret Trail," which leads to a tucked-away observation blind overlooking a pond where you may spot mink, herons, and even owls. It feels a world away from the summer crowds.

North River Wildlife Sanctuary

Another Mass Audubon gem with 2.5 miles of trails winding through oak forest and salt marsh with sweeping river views.

Look for the tucked-away riverside platform along the trail; at lower tides in spring and fall, harbor seals often haul out on nearby rocks to sun themselves.

Big Events & Festival Vibes

Levitate Music & Arts Festival — July 18–19, 2026

One of the premier roots and reggae festivals in the country, held annually at the Marshfield Fairgrounds and drawing major national acts.

Tickets sell out months in advance. For 2026, the lineup includes headliners like Alanis Morissette and Ziggy Marley. Even if you do not score tickets, the festival energy spills into local restaurants, beaches, and bars all weekend.
